The Whistle GPS tracker uses advanced GPS technology to provide fast, highly accurate, location information across the broadest range of conditions.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) used by Whistle is a U.S.-owned utility that interacts with GPS receivers to provide three-dimensional position and time. The GPS website states that, in the worst case, location accuracy is within 7.8 meters (25 feet) with 95% confidence. Although the actual accuracy can be affected by other factors, such as solar flares, it can also be improved with various augmentation systems and advanced technology, such as that used by Whistle.
Even if your tracker is not close enough to the base station to "hear" the radio signal, our Whistle servers will still be able to communicate with the tracker. For more information on the areas served by our GPS functionality, see our Whistle GPS Coverage Map.
