When you sign up to participate in the project, we ask for your consent to share data with third-party partners - like Universities - for support in analyzing and extracting meaning from your data. Your pet's data can:
- Reveal unseen patterns of behavior that might be early indicators of a pet's wellbeing
- Allow owners, breeders, and veterinarians make better decisions about a pet's health
- Support the development of new products that better meet the needs of your pets
It's important to note that information collected for research purposes is only ever used for this reason and is anonymized when shared. As an example, we may share the anonymized Banfield Pet Hospital record of your dog and the associated Whistle accelerometer data with a research partner to better understand how patterns in the Whistle data correlate with patterns in your dog's health record. Your dog - let's call him "Duke" - would appear in a shared database as Dog#1234, a 6-year-old Chihuahua recently diagnosed with an ear infection with a 30% increase in scratching detected before his visit.
We work very hard, using administrative, physical and technical safeguards, to ensure that the data we collect is not only safe and secure - but also helping to create a better world for your pet and a better world for all pets.
If you have any questions about how your data is used, please reach out to the team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
