Where can I find notification settings?
In iOS:
Tap on the "Pet" icon which is located in the bottom tab bar, then tap the gear icon in the top right corner of your pet's photo to open the Settings screen
Turning notifications on or off
Scroll down to Notifications and select the type of notifications you wish to turn on or off
- Globally toggle on/off all Push and/or Email notifications
- SMS/Text notifications are no longer available except for legacy users who have been receiving them already. If you currently get text notifications and you disable them, you may not be able to restart them later!
- Individually toggle on/off email notifications for GPS location, battery status and/or the weekly activity report (this is sent on Monday every week).
- Individually toggle on/off push notifications for GPS location, battery status, activity updates, and/or achievements.
- Individually toggle on/off SMS notifications (if you're a legacy user of this feature) for GPS Location and/or battery status.
- And if you have added to the family and invited other owners they can adjust their notification settings without affecting yours.
Adding/deleting a secondary email or phone number
-Open the Pet tab in the bottom menu, then tap on the gear icon in the top right corner to open Settings
- Tap on Text or Email notifications from the tab
-There will be a "trashcan" next to phone numbers and emails that you can delete.
You can add 2 additional emails maximum that are different from your primary account email address by tapping and typing in the empty placeholder box.
In Android:
Open the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar
Scroll down to Notifications & Permissions
Notifications supported include push notifications and email notifications
Push notifications includes the journal reminder schedule
Breach alerts and safe trip alerts (the “Location” section) will only show for a GPS device
Text notifications will not be visible or available unless you had a US phone number registered to your account and were receiving texts in the older version of the app. We no longer register new phone numbers for text, but legacy users still have this access
Phone permissions includes Bluetooth, Location, and device pairing (Whistle <> phone)
A red alert icon will show to the left of this item if one of the permissions is not configured correctly
Tapping on “Phone permissions” shows all of the necessary permissions for Whistle, and anything incorrectly configured will be shown in red
For both apps:
What do the notification categories mean?
GPS Location - These will provide you with an alert when your pet is out of their safe place, if you start a Find My Pet session, it will send a new location every minute for 30 minutes, and it will send a single location update, if you do a one time locate.
Achievements - These will let you know when your pet earns a new achievement and tapping on them will open to a full screen view of the achievement.
Activity - These will send when your pet hits their daily activity goal, when they are on a streak, when they break a new personal record, and when they are resting more or less.
Check In - These notifications remind you to check in with how your pet is doing and to add journal entries if you'd like (Coming soon for Android!)
Other - These will send battery status levels when your device is low and fully charged and when your device has turned off.
If you are experiencing issues receiving notifications, make sure to double check your phone's system notification and permission settings for the WHISTLE™ app.
